Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of April 16, 2026

Tisbury's Zoning Board of Appeals approved two pool permits and upheld a contested garage-with-studio permit. At 0 Bigelow Road, the board unanimously approved a heated 14-by-30-foot pool with spa in the R50 district; at 213 Lake Street, a second pool permit was approved with conditions including low-level lighting for safety. The board voted 5-1 to uphold the Building Commissioner's permit for a two-car garage with artist's studio at 46 Wood Chips Circle, rejecting an abutter's concerns that water and septic connections in the accessory structure could enable future residential conversion.

Attorney David D. Doneski's legal opinion concluded the structure as conditioned does not violate zoning bylaws. The board scheduled a six-month review of a chicken-raising permit.
