TISBURY — The Tisbury Climate Committee approved a structural evaluation of its Department of Public Works building for potential solar and battery backup installation. Committee member Dan Phelan moved the measure, which the committee unanimously approved on a 6-0 vote. A prior engineering study had estimated $50,000 might be required to reinforce the structure against wind effects, though the committee noted newer equipment is lighter and may require less retrofitting.

The committee also advanced planning for a climate infrastructure forum scheduled for October 8 at the Tisbury Public Library, featuring potential speakers including Public Works Director Kirk Metell and Wastewater Superintendent Mike Alberice discussing current stormwater and wastewater challenges and future infrastructure plans.
