Tisbury Conservation Commission approved selective tree removal at 48 Howard Street while preserving a bittersweet-wrapped oak tree, in a 4-0 vote with one abstention. Property owner Patrick Targete had sought removal, citing a hazardous lean toward a neighbor's property, but the Commission voted to preserve the oak and cut the bittersweet vine at the base. The nine conditions include restrictions on pruning size, prohibition of tree topping, and a fall deadline for a native-plant planting plan.
The Commission also approved removal of 19 pitch pines at 966 Main Street to mitigate southern pine beetle risk, with Conservation Agent Sean Young confirming the trees were dead or dying.
