Tisbury Climate Committee designated emergency shelter planning as its MVP 2.0 seed project. The committee voted 5-0 at its April 16 work session to prioritize a project addressing critical infrastructure gaps revealed during community workshops. The school's designated shelter has an inadequate generator, and the Senior Center and Library lack sufficient capacity to shelter residents during emergencies.
Committee Chair Melinda Loberg and Secretary Kate Shands will draft a proposal with consultant recommendations for site evaluations, emergency protocols, and improved communications systems for presentation at the Martha's Vineyard Commission on April 30.
